Going Green for Artists: Crushed Can Art

Crushed Can Art ~ Charles Kaufman
Going green is the hip new thing to do nowadays so artists have a chance to do their part and it's fun and can be fairly profitable if you're so inclined to think this way.  If you're an artist and you are wondering what you can do to do your part for the world then please read on.

There is a successful artist, Charles Kaufman, who creates works of art onto crushed cans and sells them in nice little boxed frames and have become part of collections all over the world.  The paintings are very colorful and whimsical and I think they're fantastic and green!  Charles is a wonderful artist who creates some really wild and ecletic art.

Please check out his blog at: crushedcanart.blogspot.com or check out his website at: toontoonz.com.

As you can see, there is a nice potential for creating your own little niche in the market place for creating your collectable art.  Going green is huge and this could be a great little launch pad for selling your art.  You could sell recycled art and also draw attention to your more serious endeavors if your fine artist or illustrator.

I regulary recycle boxes by cutting them up and coating them with one or two coats of acrylic gesso and using them to paint sketches on or use to paint simple paintings on.  You can check out my posting that mentions this topic. If you paint simple scenes onto a piece of gessoed cardboard and put it in a nice frame and market them then you could create a nice little niche market for yourself.  I'm working on creating some pieces and marketing them myself and I'll let you know how that goes with a later posting.
